I'm a mom of three (5, 3, and a baby), Brazilian, Brookline-based, and until recently a corporate CRM director with too many Zoom meetings.
I built Unmess because I was the one calling around for cleaners, getting quoted three different prices for the same job, watching my house get rushed through, and then re-tidying after they left. I'd ask friends. I'd try the next service. I'd get the same outcome.
The problem wasn't the cleaners themselves — most of them were trying their best. The problem was the system. Cleaners doing five or six houses a day with no time to do any of them well. Booking processes that required three phone calls and a quote. Pricing that wasn't transparent until after the fact. Nobody picking up the toy on the floor before they vacuumed around it.
So I built the version I wanted as a customer.
What we do differently.
We do two to three homes a day, not five or six. Same price as everyone else. The math works because we have less overhead and we keep the cleaners we have. They're not rushing.
We clean AND tidy. Most don't. We pick up before we wipe down — that's the entire premise. You shouldn't have to pre-clean before the cleaner arrives.
You book online in seconds. No calls. No quotes. You see your price, pick your date, and pay. The booking confirmation lands in your inbox before you finish thinking about it.
We use products safe enough for a baby to crawl on the floor 30 minutes later. ECOS PRO and Method only. No bleach, no ammonia, nothing that lingers in the air or on your toddler's hands.
We try hard to send the same person each time. They learn your home — where the litter box is, which floors not to mop, which kid's room is currently a disaster zone we should ignore. We can't always promise it, but we plan for it.
Where we came from.
Unmess is the operating brand of Araucaria Capital LLC, a small holding company I run that's focused on owning and improving high-trust local services in Greater Boston. The name comes from the Araucária tree — Brazilian, slow-growing, built to last. The same way I'm trying to build this.
We launched in 2026, serving Brookline, Newton, Cambridge, Allston, Brighton, Jamaica Plain, Back Bay, South End, Longwood, Chestnut Hill, Newtonville, West Newton, Newton Centre, Cleveland Circle, Roslindale, West Roxbury, Somerville, Belmont, Needham, and surrounding neighborhoods. We're growing slowly on purpose — quality first, scale second.
What's next.
More cleaners on the team, all background-checked and insured. More organizing services (we already do pantries, closets, baby prep, full kitchen resets). Eventually, more cities — but only when we can replicate the standard, not before.
